Managed to get it all setup last night and it seems to be a good solution. Codeigniter validation is nice and easy, so its been a breeze to do. Cheers for the suggestions.

In CI 2 they force you to encrypt the key, but in CI <2 it's optional. Check your config.php.

Yeah, Padstow was really nice. It was pretty busy but the beaches either side of the estuary were fairly quiet. We were staying in an apartment in a big house on the hill that runs up behind Stein's deli and fish and chip shop, so the location was perfect.

Eating out with Jude was an appalling embarrassment. We did a dry run at an Italian on the first night, and from then on we knew it wasn't going to be plain sailing. Eating out just became a game of entertaining the boy, instead of enjoying the occasion and the food. Mike, take note!

Javascript paged forms are a pain in the arse from a dev point of view. More trouble than they're worth.

I'd be going for multipage and store in session or db depending on the sensitivity of the information and/or if you're using load-balanced hosting (load-balanced == potential session instability). Safest is database sessions with a secure token passed as a hidden field on each form IMO.

The tabbed thing is what I built first, but I can't find a way to validate each step before allowing the user to proceed. All the jQuery validation plugins I have seen only allow for a single validation on submit.

What about using a tabbed form - so just use JQuery to show and hide the tabs. This way the form elements can all be submitted at one time, so the validation should be fairly standard.

With a system I developed years ago, we stored the data in Sessions. Not sure if that is an options and has certain security implications (especially on shared hosting), but is a thought.

We topped off a fantastic holiday with getting stuck on a mud bank up the Helford river at low tide, which meant we had to wait 6+ hours till high tide so we could get off the bloody thing. We'd only used up an hour of our alotted time and then, BAM! Boat trip over.

We saw the funny side of things although my mum and dad weren't so chipper as their two kids, grandson and my pregnant partner + sisters boyfriend were effectively up shit creek (with paddles) and we narrowly avoided a rescue helicopter as it was getting dark by the time we got back. Uncle Slashdog got the blame for all of it.

After that holiday coming back home was always going to be a 'bit shit'.

I am building a client site that allows users to create a page. The form is quite long, so they want to break it up into steps and I am wondering what the best way of doing it. Options I can think of:

1. Break page up into 'steps' using jQuery.
Problems: Validation will be a real pain in the ass this way.

2. A multiple page process, storing unfinished content into a temporary database table.

3. A multiple page process, storing data in final table but marking content as "draft" until process is complete.

What do you think would be the best way to go?
