1.

Kicking it old skool, I thought I'd come on here and see if I can get any coding advice. :)

    Facebook.

Client has a gallery of images, and they want a button so people can send one to their timeline, with info and links back to his site etc.

Do I do this with a 'like' or 'send' button, or do I have to get jiggy on the api's ass? For example, I went to look if Flickr does it, and when I try to share on Facebook, it gives be that big, scary "Do you give Yahoo permission to cock around with your Facebook account" box.

Do you have to do this? I would think it would put people off?

I know you can 'like' a URL, but this is a page with loads of thumbnails on it - they don't (currently) have their own URL to send.

Any info on Facebook witchcraft gratefully received. Oh, the same goes for Twitter too, I guess.

    Ta.

If you want to add something to someone's wall, you will need that big scary popup, and you need to register your site as an application, etc.

The alternative is just using a basic facebook link-sharing link...

    As I thought. Cheers, Jordan.

AFAIK, the basic sharer (which is awesomely quick to use) isn't supported and may disappear at anytime.
  5.
    Who in the what now?
  6.
Yeah, it's true. The Facebook sharer is no longer supported and is being completely replaced by the like button. Open Graph works the same way on both though so you just need to swap out your code.

I didn't know what the 'sharer' was, so it doesn't mean anything to me that it's gone.

Is it just me, or does the 'like' button take incredibly long to load on a site? Have I done something wrong?
