Our domain/site runs on an external server with a plesk control panel. Our email is on a mail server in our office. Issue is a particular client can't send us email - they get an instant "Domain no longer accepts mail" message, yet we can mail them. I believe it may be a conflict with DNS settings or Qmail but an initial google trawl has left me confused. Anyone had similar issues?
Message reads:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at lvpsXXX-XXX-XXX-XXX.vps.hostingcompany.co.uk. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
Does your clients email run through the server that's hosting your website? If so, plesk thinks it owns that domain so will try and deliver the email internally. When it sees no mailbox set up it bounces. You need to set up a correct mx record in plesk for your domain in the DNS settings, so plesk knows to redirect the mail to your office server, then disable mail for your domain (again, through plesk)
I'm typing on iPhone at the moment, but if you can't sort it today let me know and I'll post some screenshots tomorrow (I'm in London all day today so won't get chance)
